Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell joined CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. Then, she became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. Then, in 1992 she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. She traveled together with Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss topics such as that of the Iran Contra scandal.
