Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music was discovering a grand piano in the attic. The piano was fascinating to her its capabilities. The parents of her May-Britt family along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as a profession or a pastime, but as a way to develop. This led to her began to write songs of her own. Bjork and Leonard Cohen are among her most favored composers. After her mother said that the songs she composed could be used to not make her famous however, but to encourage people to realize the value of themselves and their impact in our world at large, she began singing them in public. When she was six she started playing the piano. At age nine, she began writing her own songs. They didn't even know until the age of 14. Aurora was not a goal. She claims that she just enjoys writing songs. For her music, it is the best way to express anything.
